TableSmith
From MegaTravellerWiki
TableSmith is a shareware (US$10) application for producing random results from simple scripts. With a bit of scripting experience or rudimentary programming ability, any table from your favourite rules book can be converted into a system that randomly generates rolls for you.
It is not a unique invention, nor the first, with predecessors like TableMaster and Rollem. However, it is easily the best supported and most popular of the current generation of rolling programs.
The chief limitation is the lack of a built-in dice roller on the front end, so you'll still need another program (or a dice-rolling website like Dicelog.com) to help you with that. An alternative would be to make use of a simple TableSmith script that takes advantage of the "parameters" option (it's shaped like a gear) to specify the number of dice, the number of sides, and the bonus to add or remove.
TableSmith Traveller
The following TableSmith scripts have been written for Traveller. Note that a large number are interdependent and you may get errors if you do not have the other tables available.
| Script | Author | Requires | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traveller_Random_Creature.tab | JT | ||
| Based on MegaTraveller creature generation rules on pp.30–35. House rules disabled by default; house rules include: custom table for swimmer weapons, weight randomisation to two significant figures, option for RCS Integrity instead of MT Hits, permanent weight modifier to natural weapon Damage Value. | |||
| Traveller_Encounter_Table.tab | JT | Traveller Random Creature | |
| Produces a 2D encounter table populated with random creatures for a randomly-selected biome. The biome can be alternatively set to a specific one. Allows using the "standard" house rules from Traveller Random Creature. | |||
| Traveller_Race.tab | JT | ||
| Selects a random race from Traveller lore, based on the list in the Traveller Wiki. This table is a master table used by several others in JT's collection. | |||
| Traveller_Port_Tenure.tab | JT | ||
| Follows the generation system on random port tenure to provide an amount of time, listed in days and hours, that a Traveller aboard your starship will require at your next stop. | |||
