An aimed shot is, essentially, a shot where the firer carefully directs their kinetic-energy or direct-energy projectile towards a given location of the target. Unlike a called shot, the firer absolutely does not wish to hit any other location of the target, and thus will pull the trigger if and only if the firer believes a hit is guaranteed against the target location.

To make an aimed shot, the firer selects a specific hit location on the target's body, presumably one that would inflict the most damage to the target—the head, for instance, is a common choice. The firer then rolls on the following task before rolling to-hit:

To make an aimed shot:
Difficult, Determination, (Weapon) (instant, safe)
Referee: Ignore Mishaps.

Upon failure of the above task, the firer does not gain a "bead" on the target location. Instead of taking the shot, the firer simply waits, continuing to sight the target and trying to aim at the body part. The firer still spends the time that would have ordinarily been spent performing the attack: the action attempted is lost. However, no ammunition is expended and the firer does not betray an ambush, if any.

If the above task is successful, the firer may then take a standard shot at -4 DM. If the shot is successful, the targetted body location is hit. If the shot is unsuccessful, the shot misses the target entirely.
