Background
Founded in 802, Conerian Industrial LIC prided itself on manufacturing expensive and powerful fighter craft at its orbital facility skimming the upper reaches of the gas giant Coneria at coordinate 1923 in the Anshi system in the Empty Quarter sector. Being safely outside of the domain of most Imperial interests, Conerian Industrial could afford not to discriminate when designing its craft.
However, in a freak accident in 875, an antimatter explosion at the Conerian Industrial facility ripped the facility into constituent atoms and ignited the face of Coneria. The gas giant burned as a second sun, turning the bitter cold colony on its moon that housed the majority of the Anshi family into an inferno and killing all eight thousand residents. Coneria continued to burn for three days before it solidified and ruptured from the inside out, forming what is now the Anshi asteroid belt at the outer orbital range of the Anshi system. The largest asteroid, the 1000-kilometre "Coneria Rogue", is a solid mass of iron and is declared Red Zone by the system government as a historical monument, though they lack power of enforcement.
The scattered remnants of the Anshi family now live on Anshi Gamma closer to the system's core and swore an oath never to again toy with antimatter or any other form of high technology. Renaming their company Confire Industrial in sombre homage to the ten thousand people who lost their lives, the vast majority of Confire Industrial is now owned by independent shareholders and external interests, with the Anshi family holding only a fraction of the company share. Though the share value dropped to a record low when news of the Conerian detonation reached the farthest corners of the Imperium, Confire Industrial has slowly rebuilt itself and now enjoys rather high share value. In spite of their extreme minority, the Anshi family still manage the company policy and enjoy staggering shareholder approval ratings.
Products
After the Conerian explosion, Confire adopted a policy of manufacturing civilian ground vehicles, including luxury vehicles, cargo transports, and common personnel movers. Confire has not manufactured a vehicle with technology greater than Tech Code Pre-Stellar since the Conerian event. Their small, 4-tonne Meridian Landvan enjoys rather significant sales amongst the social elite and has a reputation for being a very high-quality vehicle.
